2 by Wild

Peter Wild was my 2nd poetry instructor at U of A, and his influence as a teacher and a writer was great on me and others. Others, not. Ahem. His style is not dissimilar often in its inscrutability to that of John Ashbery (who has made a mint not making sense,) but Wild's is less erudite, more boozy. Like Ashbery (to my eye and ear) when the man is on, he's on (and just scrutable enough.) His last published book of poems that I know of is Easy Victory (1994.) Maybe someday his enormous output will be gathered, including the work of his last years, like these. Tonight, "Research Trip, Yucca Valley;" tomorrow, "God's Brain."
